Our work starts with a deeper examination of the symptoms that brought you into therapy, reviewing your family history and a conversation about setting comfortable boundaries which will result in the creation of a safe and trustworthy environment that we will share during our work together. Together we will find the parameters that allow for comfortable boundaries in our mutual relationship.
The next step is to explore the layer cake that is your inner dynamics and emotional conflicts. With your inner psyche as the guide, we will uncover what issues lay underneath the symptoms you are experiencing. This is done by encouraging a strong connection between the body and the mind using touch and talk. I take a holistic approach by employing a combination of techniques including visceral manipulation, cranial-sacral work, and somatic psychology. Using this, I will guide you to connect to your inner senses and feelings, to stay with them and to allow information (images, sensations, sounds, emotions, movements) to surface into your psyche. The expression of that suppressed material allows you to resolve your inner conflicts, resulting in the eventual resolution of your physical and emotional symptoms. .
Depending on your level of comfort with touch, our sessions can be adjusted to just talk therapy (no touch), or whatever works for you. That being said, touch can be used to detect and help repair the the places in the body where we hold our emotional responses to the traumas experienced throughout our lives. Touch in general, plays an integral role in the creation and maintenance of interpersonal relationships.
